connected

house works to ensure that venues and theatre-makers are connected: collaborating and learning from one another, creating together, and in dialogue with each other.

The ecosystem of our sector that flourishes through connection. Theatre as an artform is built on collaboration and a co-dependency between venues and artists.

We foster connection by:

  • Running networking events throughout the year
  • Facilitating ‘Venue Meet Ups’ across the south east
  • Running Pitch Up events for both artists and venues
  • Offering a ‘Connect me’ service across our network, starting conversations and meaningful relationships between venues in the south east
  • Facilitating communication and peer-to-peer learning across our network membership

It's so important to be in the room with peers and have a place to talk and learn from each other… It can be quite daunting when you are new to these kind of events and I thought it was really nice that house team flag people who you might not know to help make those connections.

house network member, on our Network Day

Thank you for your support and the opportunity to attend fringe with the house delegation. I found it invaluable both personally and for Stanley Arts. I’m looking forward to developing the relationships I started and seeing which artists and companies we can work with.

Louisa Bartlett, 2025 Edinburgh Festival Fringe house delegate

[I was]... reminded of all the brilliance that is squirrelling away behind the scenes at a time when the arts feels like it’s under-appreciated and made to feel less-than. Thank you for such a brilliant event, as an independent maker the day felt vital.

I left the event having connected with some new producers that I will definitely engage with going forward.
