As a volunteer dependent organisation with a small paid professional team this is a key leadership role within the Arts Centre, responsible to the Centre Manager and working closely with the Artistic Director and the staff team. It is crucial to our success and commitment to the community we serve. Experience in managing or supporting volunteers and/or having taken part in volunteering yourself is essential, while having existing relationships with community partners in the area would be desirable.
Key Duties: Recruitment of volunteers for our loyal and enthusiastic team. To design and carry out volunteer training programmes, including occasional recruitment events. Manage the online volunteer rotas, ensuring appropriate coverage of all events.
Maintain the volunteer database and update training manuals and policies & procedures, including risk assessments.. Keep up to date with legislation and volunteering policy.
Attend weekly staff meetings, working alongside other team members to fulfil the volunteer requirements for the successful implementation of the Arts Centre calendar.
To lead volunteer team building through regular Newsletters, social events and personal contact.
Act as Duty Manager for one evening session and one daytime Saturday (morning or afternoon) session per month. The Volunteer & Community Manager would need to become conversant with relevant operations in order to train volunteers.
To monitor and evaluate volunteer and community activities and performance. Write occasional reports for funders and trustees
To be the focal point for community outreach programmes and to develop programmes, classes, events and support activities.
