Storytelling Training, Old Fire Station, Oxford
OpportunitiesJob Description
Thursday 5 & Thursday 12 February, 2pm to 5pm
Old Fire Station in Oxford will be running their Storytelling Evaluation Method training in February 2026.
The Storytelling Evaluation Method (Storytelling) is a qualitative learning and evaluation approach developed by Old Fire Station, Oxford (OFS). It involves collecting stories from people about their participation in a project, and then bringing other people together for a collaborative analysis of these stories. Storytelling amplifies the voices of those closest to a piece of work, supports meaningful collaboration and deep listening, and is an enjoyable process that both illustrates and reinforces the benefits of person-centred practice. It is non-reductive, non-extractive, inclusive, and empowering.
Storytelling is especially suitable for learning about the impact of holistic, relationship-based, context-specific work that is difficult to evaluate using quantitative measures alone. OFS has trained over 200 local and national partners to date in using the method. Previous Storytelling partners include cultural organisations, Voluntary and Community Sector groups, local authorities, and university researchers. You can find out more on our Storytelling website, or in our Meaningful Measurement Playbook, recently co-authored with the Skoll Centre at Said Business School, University of Oxford.
