For March's sustainability spotlight we caught up with Mark Tattersall, Artistic Director of Dorchester Arts, about the major refurbishment project which they have jointly undertaken with Dorchester Town Council. This was to modernise the Corn Exchange in the town as their main arts space with sustainability being a main part of this project with a Biomass heating system and solar panels significantly cutting their carbon footprint plus a brand new LED stage lighting and building management systems.

As a result, they will be saving an estimated 52.7 tonnes of CO2 from the Dorset air each year whilst reducing the energy use by an estimated 214,739 Kilowatt hours per year!

Listen into our conversation with Mark about how the project worked in collaboration with the town council (& even a few monks!) and what recommendations he has for other arts organisations based in listed buildings.
