This summer, visionary producers Trigger will be supported by house southeast theatre network to tour their heartwarming outdoor show TEABREAK to five locations across the South East in July and August.

TEABREAK will be heading to Kings Lynn in Norfolk, Luton in Bedfordshire, Staines-Upon-Thames in Surrey, Faversham in Kent and Worthing in West Sussex.

This production invites audiences to have a well-deserved TEABREAK, providing each audience member with a headset and cup of chai tea as they gently glide through the journey of tea, how it has found itself into our pots at home and the significance this meaningful brew holds for so many of us today.

Tea leaves have journeyed across continents and centuries to take its place as the great comforter of our time. TEABREAK’s own journey saw the show commissioned by Without Walls and part of Trigger’s epic PoliNations programme at the Commonwealth Games cultural programme. Since, TEABREAK has toured to 28 festivals and been seen by over 6,000 audience members at festivals including Brighton Festival, GDIF, and Norfolk & Norwich Festival.

Six house southeast theatre network’s cultural venues will bring the performance to outdoor spaces as part of their wider summer seasons and celebrations. The Workshop in Kings Lynn will welcome the show as part of their venue relocation opening celebrations; The Culture Trust Luton will bring TEABREAK to the Lawn of historic Wardown Park as part of their wider summer Family Festival; Visit Staines have planned for TEABREAK to delight audiences outside the Two Rivers Centre in Staines-Upon-Thames as part of their Visit Staines’ summer programme; whilst two Kent based cultural venues, The Alexander Centre and Creek Creative, will bring the performance to audiences in Faversham’s Market Square, in anticipation of the reopening of The Alex’s Grand Hall later this year following a fire in 2025; finishing with Worthing Theatre’s & Museum celebration of The Pavilion’s150th birthday.

Harriet Bolwell, Senior Producer for house southeast theatre network says:

“We are so proud to be working with Trigger this Summer and bringing TEABREAK to the local communities of the South East. Trigger are one of the most inventive and creative companies in the UK right now, making incredible works that interrupt daily life as well as reimagine and revive our public spaces.

Working together with Trigger and venues in our network to help share this show with audiences for free is so important now more than ever. Bringing people together through storytelling and shared live experiences should be something each and every one of us have the benefit to enjoy.”

Angie Bual, Director of TEABREAK adds:

“We’re delighted to be bringing TEABREAK to locations across the South East this summer. Now in its fourth year of touring, we’re very proud of the fact the show continues to resonate with audiences. Through a rich blend of audio and dance, TEABREAK tells the complex and often overlooked story behind the nation’s favourite drink, tracing its routes through colonialism, trade and cultural exchange. The show invites audiences to reflect on the legacies steeped in every cup of tea, and to consider the global stories and voices that have shaped this everyday ritual.”

The five date summer 2026 tour is supported by house southeast theatre network, which aims to improve the range, quality and scale of theatre presented in the South East region and to help grow audiences for contemporary theatre.
