This autumn, three theatre shows will tour 40 dates across 25 venues in our network.
The house supported tours bring the three acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe sell-out shows to a range of small to mid-scale venues, giving local audiences not only the opportunity to catch bold, live storytelling from incredible artists, but to connect with local communities as part of attending a live experience in their regional venues.
Peter Glanville, CEO of Farnham Maltings said:
“This autumn, we are delighted that the house touring season features DRUM, a show that borrows its name from the legendary South African magazine and is inspired by the real life meeting of two rising Ghanaian creatives, photographer James Barnor and the BBC's first Black broadcaster Mike Eghan as they meet for the first time.”
“DRUM offers audiences a joyful and poignant fusion of storytelling, music and traditional Ghanaian dance; capturing a snapshot of the swinging sixties as the two men dual over their perception of identity, success, assimilation and home.”
house Senior Producer Harriet Bolwell added: “Alongside DRUM we are buzzing to be supporting the tour of renowned writer Nick Cassenbaum’s love-letter to Jewish Essex – and some of the best writing I’ve seen in years -with Revenge: After the Levoyah.”
“We can’t wait to bring this Edinburgh Fringe smash-hit, which went on to sell-out The Yard Theatre, to audiences in the South East – Essex very much being one of its many locations. Cassebaum’s show will leave audiences wowed by its fast-pace, incredible performances and punchy, acerbic political script.”
Adding: “The final show in house’s touring season is from a young, upcoming company called Buzzcut Productions with their unique cinematic blend of puppetry, live performance and intricate camera work. BARK BARK tells the eerie tale of a young couple who answer an ad to house and dog-sit. What unfolds is an unnerving story told through relatable characters, blending live music and sophisticated performance with technology, as the show’s boundless creativity unfurls right in front of the audience.”
With the shows touring to 25 venues in locations from Poole to Margate, Slough to Wells Next-the-Sea and Eastleigh to Norwich and more, the house southeast theatre network aims to improve the range, quality and scale of theatre presented in the South East region and to help grow audiences for work outside the West End and large-scale theatre spaces.
