News Story

With the support of house southeast theatre network, Farnham Malting’s Arts Council England funded venue and touring initiative, three theatre shows will tour 40 dates across 34 independent theatre venues in the South East of England this spring.

The house supported tours will bring the three critically acclaimed shows to a range of small to mid-scale venues, giving local audiences of all ages the opportunity to catch world-class theatre on their doorstep.

Senior Producer for house, Harriet Bolwell said:

This spring, the house touring season really does have something for everyone. Award-winning artist Katie Greenall is taking their beautiful theatre piece BLUBBER on the road, with a performance that is both powerful and vulnerable. Katie is an incredible storyteller, and their latest project invites audiences to join an intimate journey exploring their fractured relationship with their body.

For our smaller audiences, nationally acclaimed Hull based theatre company The Herd bring their delightful sleepy sheepy immersive theatre show Counting Sheeps to 20 venues across the South East. The show offers the perfect introduction to theatre for babies, and their (very tired) grown-ups. The performance will be followed by a stay-and-play session and is packed with immersive, sensory experiences.

Finally, Rollercoaster from Gandini Juggling and Wes Peden brings out the wow factor, using pop-punk juggling, inspired by its maker’s fascination with rollercoasters. Think epic disco juggling, transparent tubes that wind a path around Wes’ body, with juggling balls flowing through helixes, loops and corkscrews. Whatever your age, you’ll marvel at 10 times winner of the top 40 Jugglers Award and multiple juggling word record holder, Wes’ mind-blowing juggling skills, as he twists the rules of theatre to electro beats.”

Peter Glanville, CEO of Farnham Maltings added:

“We are really proud of this carefully curated season of work and to be bringing more renowned theatre work to regional venues and audiences of all ages through the house southeast theatre network.

By supporting theatres and art centres to programme some of the best UK theatre, house works to build audiences and strengthen appetite across the region for this vitally important and intimate artform.

Our three tours will be heading to locations across the South East, from Canterbury to Colchester, Oxford to Lowestoft, Chichester to Luton and more. This will give more local audiences the opportunity to share the magical experience of seeing bold, live storytelling from talented theatre-makers in the heart of their community.”
