News Story

Sir Matthew Bourne’s iconic dance company New Adventures is going back to its roots where his career began – small-scale touring. For nearly 40 years, New Adventures has transformed the popularity and public perception of dance, placing storytelling and accessibility at the heart of what they do.

Forming new partnerships with small-scale theatres across the house southeast theatre network, New Adventures are working with house to find 10 to15 venues to be part of their upcoming Autumn 2027 tour, bringing world-class dance to venues who want to develop or support an existing dance audience, with the ambition to return with a new production the following years.

The production for 2027 will be a triple-bill of accessible and entertaining dance from Matthew Bourne’s back catalogue, James Cousins and Arthur Pita.

Talent development is central to this project. New Adventures 2 will be a new company of dance professionals working alongside the New Adventures company.

Each year, New Adventures will work with 6-10 emerging dancers who are at the beginning of their professional career, to form a touring company.

These young artists will work with a number of different choreographers, including Matthew Bourne, honing their storytelling skills and adaptability, as well as experiencing professional touring life. They will also offer a cohort of young technicians and off-stage talent the chance to work alongside our team on our paid tour placement opportunities.

Join us this coming Tuesday lunch time for a Q&A with New Adventure's Executive Producer Jennie Green and house Senior Producer Harriet Bolwell. Registration link below.
