News Story

We have recently commissioned previously supported touring artists Lîla Dance to develop a Green Touring in Practise pack; bringing together everything they learned, while making their work Fault Lines in 2023 and touring it between February 2024 and November 2025.

Fault Lines placed the climate crisis at the centre of the project, both artistically and strategically, and this is a first-hand account of Lîla Dance's joys, mistakes, unexpected wins, and logistical struggles; essentially, the lessons they learned on the job, and the lessons they wish they had known from the start.

Their resource has been developed for small arts organisations who want to tour more sustainably without losing sight of their artistic ambition, company wellbeing, or financial reality.

Lîla Dance have been careful not to shy away from the many challenges that reducing the environmental impact on touring presents. Their report is a lived account of what they actually did, why they did it, what went wrong and how you might, hopefully, avoid some of the pitfalls.

The report is now also available as part of our free resource library.

With thanks to team Lîla - Abi, Carrie and Lou and their talented company of dancers and freelancers.
