About Astor Community Theatre

The Astor Community Theatre is run by a small team of creative professionals in collaboration with local artistic partners and volunteers from the communities of East Kent and beyond. The aim has been to create a high quality cultural venue at the heart of the community, offering an eclectic mix of art, culture and creative events for all ages and tastes. We are striving to provide a venue and a programme that attracts national tours, nationally known actors, artists, musicians and writers.

The Astor has become a very important venue within Deal and the surrounding area. Not only is the theatre used for theatrical events, live music gigs, concerts, lectures, films and children’s entertainment but it has become a focal point for the community and is used for private events, amateur dramatic performances, folk nights and presentation evenings for local sports clubs. Our literary events, Talking Books, have been highly successful with many major nationally renowned authors taking part. This year the Deal Festival of Music and the Arts used The Astor as one of its main venues with a highly diverse programme of classical recitals, films and family events.
