About Aldeburgh Jubilee Hall

Jubilee Hall was built in 1887 to be used by the local community. It remains true to that now, providing a public space for residents and visitors like. The hall can be a 'hall for hire' but in recent years has also promoted and run its own events, covering all genres of entertainment - jazz, comedy, folk, classical, opera, theatre and community and family events. In 1948 and for 19 years thereafter, the hall played host to the Aldeburgh Festival, founded by Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears. The orchestra pit at the hall, which is still in use now, was used for a number of Britten premieres during this time.
