Who for: house network members in a Programming role, or with programming responsibilities.

When: Tuesday 24 November 2026, 12.30pm to 5pm, followed by networking until 5.30pm

Please note that as we anticipate high demand for this session, we are limiting bookings to one representative per venue.


Join house Touring Associate Mark Makin, and fellow programming peers, for an afternoon focused on the current opportunities and challenges of programming in a small to mid-scale venue.

The session will delve into best practice, helping you explore how to deliver against and feedback on your artistic strategy, whilst balancing competing pressures and retaining space for risk-taking.

You'll also dig into deal structures, contras and how to work closely with marketing, using data, shared insight and creativity to place audiences, artists and your venue at the heart of your programming decisions.

The session will start at 1pm, with arrivals from 12.30pm with tea and coffee provided. For those that would like to, there will also be an opportunity to stay and chat with other Programmers from 5pm to 5.30pm.
