The Alexander Centre is a civc hub and community centre in the heart of Faversham. Faversham is a pretty medieaval market town full of character and with lots going on. it is only 10 miles from Canterbury and 8 miles from the popular seaside town of Whitstable. Transport links in Faversham are great with access to London St Pancras via the High Speed train in just over an hour.
As well as housing smaller rooms for meetings and training events, the Alexander Centre boasts a large modern hall – the Gatefield Hall.
If you’re planning a big event – such as a wedding, milestone birthday, a fund-raiser, conference or exhibition – the Gatefield Hall is the largest room for hire in the area. It can seat 250 for a conference, 160 for a dinner dance or 300 for drinks and canapé reception. It’s also popular for lectures and public consultations, as well as exhibitions and fairs, concerts, gigs and drama performances.
The Gatefield Hall was added onto the Alexander Centre in the 1960s, when modernist architecture first became popular. It is a superb example of the ‘Danish look’, which has now become newly fashionable again. Recently re-vamped by top interior designer, Sue Timney, and leading architect, Nigel Lee Evans of the award-winning Lee Evans Partnership.
It has its own large catering kitchen and adjoining bar, and opens onto a walled garden. The Gatefield Hall is licensed for civil weddings and partnerships. It’s versatile and spacious – ideal for ceremonies of 50-150+ guests, depending on how the hall is arranged.
