The former chapel to ‘Horton Asylum’ is at the centre of the former Epsom Hospital Cluster. More than 10,000 so-called ‘pauper lunatics’ from London were forcibly relocated to purpose-built hospitals in Epsom in the early 20th century. Horton Chapel served staff and patients for almost 100 years, being partitioned in the 1960s to create a pioneering music therapy centre.
Renovation work is ongoing and venue opening is currently scheduled for late 2021/early 2022.
