I have no idea…

… what’s going to happen. And I love it.’

So began the keynote speech from Mena Fombo, at house’s venue network day at the National Theatre Studio on 9 March 2018. The day’s themes covered inclusivity and diversity, GDPR and instigating change, through presentations and a panel. It was characterised, though, by an encouraging call to venue leaders to take brave steps to experiment: to make change, and accept it might not always be right first time, but to positively embrace the chance to reflect, review and refresh.

house has also used the opportunity to reflect and review. Here’s a quick summary of the March event [click image to see more]:

house network days take place twice yearly and are valued for the opportunity to consider the common themes touching regional venues of similar scale. We always look for ways to refine the event, and encourage more venue leaders and staff in our network to attend.

Enormous thanks to the March event contributors: Adam Taylor (Executive Director of The Garage), Amber Onat Gregory and Lucy Garland (co-Artistic Directors, Frozen Light), David Byrne (Artistic and Executive Director of the New Diorama), Jolie C Booth (producer/artist), Leo Skilbeck (Co-Director, Milk Presents), Martin Prendergast (National Theatre Director of Communications), Mena Fombo (coach, facilitator and motivational speaker), and Patrick Towell (Chief Executive of Golant Media Ventures).
