Together Apart: Engaging Audiences
Morning session: 11am-1pm
(your joining link will apply to both morning events)
Welcome and introduction
The house team
11am-11.30am In Conversation with Suzanne Bull MBE
Founder of Attitude is Everything and former Disability Sector Champion, Suzanne Bull MBE will draw on her personal and professional experience to explore the importance of inclusion through arts and culture. Can a blended programme of live, digital and alternative content make our cultural offers more accessible?
12pm-1pm Katie Moffat of The Audience Agency will present key findings from The Audience Agency’s research, specifically the COVID Cultural Participation Monitor and Digital Audience Survey. These pieces of research explore how audiences have responded to digital events and activities during Covid and what they intend to continue to do (digitally) post pandemic. The insights include detail about the differing digital behaviours of each of the Audience Spectrum segments. Katie will also share a few best practice examples of digital engagement and provide advice about how to create effective digital experiences.
Afternoon session: 2.15pm-3pm
(to 4pm for house network venues)
2.15pm-3pm David Reece of Baker Richards will ask whether audiences are willing to pay for online or alternative content. How do venues structure pricing for a blended programme of in-person and online events? How do we monetise digital performance in the context of a wide suite of free online content?
Wrap up and farewell
3pm-4pm house afternoon tea
house’s regular afternoon tea session marks the end of alt/control/forward for the house network. Venue colleagues in the network will be joined by a representative of the Independent Cinema Office who will go over the details of the reduced theatrical window for cinema releases and answer your questions. We will also invite initial feedback on alt/control/forward and learn what you want next as you move towards reopening venues.
All sessions include time for questions and answers at the end.
