Princess Charming: Cabaret for Kids
Co-produced by Ovalhouse
Supported by Kidscape, Bullies Out, The Ben Cohen Stand-up Foundation and Arts Council England.
Princess Charming explores gender identity in a fun, questioning and celebratory way using a variety of acts and toys, dancing and dressing-up for children aged 7-11. The show uses cabaret forms to poke fun at gender stereotypes and involve the children in an interactive and multifaceted performance.
Princess Charming seeks to tackle gender based bullying in this age group by using drama and performance to increase the visibility of non-binary gender expressions and creating empathetic reactions amongst the audience and workshop participants.
Spun Glass Theatre believes in creating original work that takes risks in form and tackles difficult subject matters for families. We are looking to connect with a venue who shares these ideals and would like to support us to take the show and an accompanying workshop to schools in their area, helping us to establish a consortium of like minded venues for strategic touring.
